Scouting: My Top-138 Women's Hockey Players (Part 2)
Who are the best WHKY players in the world from a statistical standpoint?
Who are the 138 best skaters in women's hockey? I built a statistical model using data from the PWHPA, PHF, NCAA, SDHL and World Championship to find out.
In part 1, we looked at rounds 1 to 12 and so in part 2, we’ll focus on rounds 13 to 23.
Round 13 - Picks 73 to 78
Ann-Sophie Bettez is a true leader. Both on and off the ice, she sets the example of what it's like to be a pro hockey player.
Claire Dalton is also a player I hope gets a chance to join the new league.
Round 14 - Picks 79 to 84
Caitrin Lonergan is definitely a player I would like to have on my team.
Sarah Bujold has had an impressive pro career so far following her great USports years.
Round 15 - Picks 85 to 90
In round 15, we would have a good mix of powerful veteran forwards (Packer, Vanisova, Nordin) and young puck moving defenders (Winn, Pedersen, Poulin-Labelle).
Round 16 - Picks 91 to 96
Gabrielle David is a player I have had the opportunity to watch play on a weekly basis this summer: her skills are legit.
Also can't wait to see how Kaltounkova develops in the next few years. She's a talented forward who can also bring lots of energy.
Round 17 - Picks 97 to 102
In round 17, Jill Saulnier, Jaime Bourbonnais and Victoria Bach would be the big names on the board.
Abigail Boreen would also be a talent to watch out for in the new league.
Round 18 - Picks 103 to 108
Round 18 would have a couple of former players from the Boston Pride.
In addition, we would have Lina Ljungblom in this round, a young and talented sniper from Sweden.
Round 19 - Picks 109 to 1114
Lara Stalder has been an offensive powerhouse for the last decade in terms of point production.
Sarah Potomak, Emma Woods and Olivia Zafuto could also be solid middle 6/middle pairing players in the new league.
Round 20 - Picks 114 to 120
In round 20, a few European players from the NCAA would be selected.
Two solid PHF players, Justine Reyes and Natalie Snodgrass, could also add some offensive depth to a team in the new league.
Round 21 - Picks 121 to 126
Round 21 would have one of my favourite players in Alexandra Labelle. Great competitor, solid playmaker and a leader off the ice, always keeping a positive attitude.
Kjellbin is a reliable veteran D. LaMantia and Guilday are promosing offensive defenders.
Round 22 - Picks 127 to 132
Lefort, Keenan, Grant-Mentis and Krizova are all former PHF players who deserve a spot in the new league.
Round 23 - Picks 133 to 138
And for round 23, we would have a bunch of NCAA players as well as a few players, like Sophia Shaver, who could make the new league.
Note: I didn't include USports in the model, but if I had done so, a few players could've found their way into this top-138. This includes Audrey-Anne Veillette, Emmy Fecteau and Tatum Amy. They are, in my opinion, the 3 most dominant players in USports.
